| Richard H. Gasperini |
Commissioned a second lieutenant of armor upon graduation from West Point in 1976. Served as a platoon leader and executive officer with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss, Texas, prior to entering Harvard Law School in 1979. Upon graduation from law school, assigned to 3rd Armored Division in Germany serving as senior prosecutor and senior defense counsel. Transferred to The Pentagon in 1985 for service in the Litigation Division, Office of the Judge Advocate General, serving as a medical malpractice trial attorney defending the Army in cases filed in federal court throughout the United States. In 1989 transferred to the Army Reserves and performed reserve duty at the Medical Malpractice and Tort Law Branch, U.S. Army Litigation Division, The Pentagon. In 1993 became an Adjunct Professor of Law at The Army’s Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Held that position until retiring from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2004 as a Colonel. Upon leaving active duty in 1989, entered private practice as a litigation attorney with an emphasis on medical malpractice, including complex claims against the United States filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
